Participation In The 52nd Union World Conference On Lung Health
Participation In The 52nd Union World Conference On Lung Health
On 19-22 October 2021 thanks to the financial support of LHL International and the Ministry of Health and Care Services six representatives from the Northern State Medical University, EB Fund and Tuberculosis Service of the Arkhangelsk Oblast and one representative from the Komi TB Service and one from the Murmansk TB Service participated virtually in the 52nd Union World Conference on Lung Health.
We provide feedback from some of the participants:
"Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate in the 52nd Union World Conference! I was able to attend most of the conference, the most interesting reports/symposiums: Methods of rapid diagnosis of tuberculosis and the role of biomarkers (since this topic is close to our scientific project CARE on biomarkers of tuberculosis in urine). It was interesting to listen to the WHO Global Report - an in-depth discussion of tuberculosis challenges in the world. A very interesting symposium on Post-tuberculosis lung disease (the topic of residual changes and rehabilitation in tuberculosis is very relevant, in my opinion, and is little discussed among phthisiologists). And the topic that is always relevant is a symposium on TB/HIV co-infection, as well as concomitant diseases in TB (diabetes). In addition, we could hold a poster session on the topic of adverse reactions to new drugs, during the conference I was able to answer the questions from other participants of the conference online. Also, during the conference I bookmarked some more interesting reports, which I am listening to now when I have time, since many topical symposia were held simultaneously.
Thanks to EB Fund, I had a great opportunity to listen to the most interesting reports and, most importantly, present my own poster."
"In these hard times of the covid-19 pandemic, there's real need to understand that time is passing, but people still suffer from tuberculosis.
On the first day, I listened to a report on TB situation globally, also listened to two reports on personalized therapy in phthisiology, on the work of the TB service in a pandemic.
The second day of the conference covered the topics of TB work during the pandemic, tuberculosis treatment, including short treatment regimens.
The next two days were devoted to the diagnosis of tuberculosis and vaccines. I also listened to an interesting report on the possibility of diagnosing covid-19 using a test similar to the test for diagnosing tuberculosis: T-SPOT."
"The most interesting for me were lectures on modern solutions in the field of digital technologies for the implementation of DOT. Among the most popular were 99DOTs, V-Dots, electronic boxes with tablets, etc. I would like to highlight the section: SP-18 "Digital Adherence Technologies".
All our colleagues that participated in the 52nd World Lung Health Conference of the Union and the EB Fund team express sincere gratitude to the Norwegian partners for the opportunity to take part in this conference and gain new knowledge of global importance!
