26.10.2016 Students Support
26 October 2016 Dmitry Nizovtsev, a deputy head of the Higher Law School, called for more social awareness.
26 October 2016 first-year law students listened to EB Fund Chair Nina Nizovtseva who covered the main EB Fund activities and projects, TB issue and volunteer work. Nina also asked them to be volunteers for a while, tell their family and friends about what they heard during the meeting and distribute fluorography invitations.

It was September 2016 when the Health Box Project had been launched. It is a project supported by the Department of Local Government of the Arkhangelsk Oblast and implemented at the Children Sanatorium in Arkhangelsk.

2 October Severodvinsk hospital #1, volunteers and EB Fund representatives held a campaign “Check your health” in the “City” shopping mall.

15.09.2016 No Bad Habits In Future!
September started with active work in schools within such projects as Planet of Health and Forewarned is Forearmedâ Novodvinsk School #3, Arkhangelsk School #50 and Gymnasium #21. A. Avdeeva and I. Gvozdeva held activities aimed at healthier lifestyle of young learners, shared info about smoking hazards and other bad habits.

13 September in the Turdeyevo settlement was dedicated to the «Check Your Health!» campaign under the international program “Stop TB in North Western Russia in Our Lifetime”.

09.09.2016 No Alcohol Day
9 September has been established in Russia as the No Alcohol Day. In connection with that Arkhangelsk central street, Chumbarova-Luchinskogo St., hosted a street campaign held by the Psychoneurological Dispensary, EB Fund and TB Dispensary representatives. This campaign is aimed at healthier lifestyle among citizens and cessation of bad habits: alcohol and smoking abuse.

22.07.2016 Health Tent in Yemetsk
Healthy lifestyle, smoking secession, lung&heart disease prevention campaign took place in Yemetsk, Kholmogorsky District on 16. July during a local event «Brides’ Fair”. Health workers of the Yemetsk Hospital ¹2, EB Fund, Kholmogorsky District and Yemetsk authorities conducted a Healthy Tent activity within the project “Forewarned is forearmed”.

07.07.2016 TB Should Ground Arms New Approaches to This Disease Are Coming!
According to the plan of scientific activities of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Arkhangelsk hosted the interdistrict scientific conference with international participation “Tuberculosis, HIV and STD in the Russian Arctic” on 28-29 June 2016. The Conference was supported by LHL International and Easy Breathing Charity Fund.

04.07.2016 Children First!

Project “Forewarned is forearmed” is successfully conducted in the Districts. Within this project Velsk District piloted a campaign “Protect Yourself, Protect Your Family”. During the first six months Velsk conducted also such activities as lectures on TB prevention on a teachers session, lecture “Cultural Values of the Family, Their Relevance for the Child” and “How to Protect Yourselves and Your Close Ones from TB” for the parents, lecture “What is TB?” at the discussion club “The Dialogue”, info materials about TB prevention are placed on stands.

20.06.2016 Health Communication - June 2016

1-3 June EB Fund alongside with the Norwegian Fund LHL International conducted a final training “Health Communication” for the medical workers of the Arkhangelsk Oblast. This training involved 17 participants. There were two seminars on 1 June. The first was designed for the major group where participants could repeat the latest topics they learned in April and to receive constructive feedback on the follow-up questionnaire and most significant change stories.

EB Fund keeps its energy up while implementing the projects of its Stop TB program. Success of the “Forewarned is Forearmed” project goes on involving more cities and districts, advocating for healthy lifestyle and spreading knowledge about TB, HIV and other diseases prevention.

28.04.2016 HC is Back to Arkhangelsk

4-8 April 2016 Northern State Medical University was chosen again as a place for Health Communication training. Coaches Hedvig Amdal, representative of LHL International (Norway, Oslo) and Svetlana Kornyakova, child psychologist from the Krasnoborsk Sanatory (Russia, Kransnoborsk, Arkhangelsk Oblast) Berthe Stanberg, Advisor/Program Coordinator from LHLI, was an observer.

28.04.2016 Broadening the Horizons

It was the first quarter of 2016 when the Ministry of Health of the Komi Republic (Russia), Northern State Medical University, EB Fund and International Fund LHL International (Norway) signed a Memorandum on collaboration. This means more activities in Komi within the Stop TB in NW Russia in our Lifetime program.

01.04.2016 Attention! EB Fund Goes On Air!

On 23 March a meeting was held in TB Department in Severodvinsk bringing together representatives of EB Fund and the Head of Public Affairs of administration of Severodvinsk E.Orlova, the Deputy Chief Doctor N.Grosheva, the Head of TB Department N.Vlasova. They discussed current TB situation in Severodvinsk, joint activities with EB Fund in 2015 and 2016.

In 24 March 1882 a German scientist Robert Koch told the world about the TB agent – Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, which was afterwards named after Koch. In 100 years International TB Union and WHO established World TB Day to be on 24 March.

Russian-Norwegian Project "Operational Research" Is Granted Support
Public health programs in many countries around the world are “data rich, but poor in the amount of information extracted from that data,” which implies that much data is generated at the country level, and the potential for using this data to improve public health is rarely realized fully. The Structured Operations Research and Training (SORT IT) initiative seeks to make countries “data-rich, information-rich and intervention-rich,” thereby contributing to improved health care delivery and outcomes. SORT IT is a global partnership coordinated by the Tropical Diseases Research and Education Special Program and implemented in conjunction with partners. SORT IT supports countries and institutions in: conducting operational research according to their own priorities; building sustainable operational research capacity; and making informed decisions to improve the effectiveness of the program. Participants develop a research project, draw up a protocol, collect and analyze data, write articles and submit them for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
