Broadening the Horizons

     It was the first quarter of 2016 when the Ministry of Health of the Komi Republic (Russia), Northern State Medical University, EB Fund and International Fund LHL International (Norway) signed a Memorandum on collaboration.  This means more activities in Komi within the Stop TB in NW Russia in our Lifetime program.

     11-12 April Syktyvkar held a Conference «MDR/XDR-TB Diagnostics and Treatment in North-Western Russia», which overlapped 90^th anniversary of the Republican TB Dispensary.

   This Conference involved participation of P.K. Jablonsky, Head of  Saint-Petersburg Research Institute of Phthisiatry of the Russian Health Ministry, Thoracic Surgeon-in-chief of  the Russian Ministry of Health; Andrey Maryandyshev, non-staff phthisiatrician-in-chief of the Northwestern Federal Okrug of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Chair of the WHO European Committee “Green Light”; Berthe Stenberg, Adviser/Program Coordinator at LHL International (Norway); Nina Nizovtseva, Chair of the Easy Breathing Charity Fund »; leading experts of the Saint-Petersburg Research Institute of Phthisiatry. Dmitry Berezin – Minister for Health of the Komi Republic – opened the Conference.

  The Conference covered such issues as TB/MDR-TB monitoring, treatment, surgery.

Experts Saint-Petersburg Research Institute of Phthisiatry provided Republican Dispensary with needed help and consultations.
