Barents Tuberculosis Programme:10th Meeting of the Steering Committee.
In May 15, 2017 Arkhangelsk AIDS Center hosted the 10th meeting of the Steering Committee of the Barents TB Program with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Arkhangelsk Region and Easy Breathing Charity Fund.
The meeting was attended by Ms.Karin Ronning, Senior medical officer, Deputy for Contagious diseases, Norwegian institute of Public Health (Norway), Mr. Mikko Vauhkonen, Project Planner, FILHA (Finland), Heads of the Murmansk Regional TB Dispensary Ms. Svetlana Presnova, the Clinical Antituberculosis Dispensary of the Republic of Karelia Ms.Yulia Kononenko, the Deputy Chief Physician of the Tuberculosis Dispensary of the Komi Republic Ms.Ekaterina Zhiglova. The Arkhangelsk Region was represented by the Minister of Health Mr.Anton Karpunov, the Assistant of the "Phthisiopulmonology" Department of the State Medical University Ms.Elena Nikishova, the Heads of the AIDS Center and the Regional Clinical TB dispensary Ms.Elena Popova and Mr.Dmitry Perkhin, the Chair of the Easy Breathing Charity Fund Ms.Nina Nizovtseva.
Zaza Tsereteli, coordinator of the Barents TB Control Program, and the chairperson of the meeting Ms. Lyudmila Archakova, St. Petersburg Scientific Research Institute of Phthisiopulmonology opened the Meeting.
The translation was provided by the interpreters of the Easy Breathing Charity Fund Ms.Irina Gvozdeva and Ms.Alexandra Avdeeva.
The Meeting considered the following issues:
- Organization of Health Care systems for Prevention and Control of TB in Norway and Finland;
- Organization of Health Care systems for Prevention and Control of TB in Russia;
- Epidemiological situation in the NW Regions of Russia;
- Epidemiological situation in Barents regions of Russia;
- Implementation of the Russian-Norwegian program "Stop TB in the North-West of Russia in our lifetime" (2014-2018).
The participants of the Meeting were especially interested in the "In touch" project, which is being implemented within the framework of this program as the use of Digital Health technologies in the WHO strategy to eliminate TB.
Zaza Tsereteli put forward the idea of creating a separate project for the Barents regions of Russia.
