International cooperation in the field of health goes on!

On June 7-8, 2018 in Arkhangelsk, within the framework of the Nordic Council of Ministers' cooperation with the North-West Russia, an interregional conference with international participation "Interaction of public health institutions as a condition for development of HIV infection services at the primary health care level" was held. EB Fund took part in it. The conference was attended by representatives of medical and public organizations of the Arkhangelsk Oblast and other oblasts of Russia, the National Institute of Public Health of Finland (TNL) Dmitry Titkov, project manager; Sirje Vaitinen, project coordinator; Liisa Palonen, external relations specialist, and also the senior adviser of LHL International Tuberculosis Foundation (Norway) Berthe Stenberg.
The first day conference program was presented by reports on the interaction of public health institutions in improving the quality of medical care for people living with HIV infection and patients with HIV and tuberculosis; on interdepartmental interaction in increasing the literacy of the population of the Arkhangelsk region in matters regarding the preservation of health. Also, the experience of the regional branch of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers-physicians" was shared.
The second day of the Conference was held in the Arkhangelsk clinical TB dispensary. Nina Nizovtseva, Chairman of the EB Fund and Anastasia Kulizhskaya, Head of the Organizational and Methodological department of the TB Dispensary, gave presentations on the Interagency Cooperation between Public health institutions and NGOs on the Prevention of HIV and Tuberculosis.
Oksana Sveshnikova, deputy head physician for medical issues, spoke about the work of the screening and diagnostic office, which is a structural unit of the TB dispensary. This office is engaged in providing help to PLHIV, testing patients with HIV infection to identify tuberculosis (every 6 months); treatment of active tuberculosis, treatment of latent TB infection in PLHIV; as well as conducting preventive work in the foci of infection.
Oksana Sveshnikova showed the participants, where the screening and diagnostic office is located, how the infection control measures are observed, and how patients are treated.
