Online Meeting With Partners Dedicated To The Implementation Of The SORT IT Course In Arkhangelsk

On April 26, 2021, an online meeting of partners was held to discuss issues related to the organization of the SORT IT course (Structured Operations Research and Training Initiative)

The meeting was attended by Anna Eilertsen, Einar Heldal, Sven Gudmund from the Norwegian side, and Andrey Maryandyshev, Nina Nizovtseva, Alexandra Staritsyna from the Russian side.

The project was granted support by the Norwegian Ministry of Health. The timiline for its implementation is 2021.

An OR training course for young scientists was first held in Arkhangelsk in 2017-2018.

The goal of the project is to train young scientists to conduct research work: course participants, under the guidance of experienced international trainers, develop their own research project, draw up a protocol, collect and analyze data, write articles and send them for publication in scientific journals for further use by the medical community in measures to combat tuberculosis and the co-infection of tuberculosis/HIV infection.

7 TB specialists from Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Arkhangelsk are participating in the training course this year.

The facilitators in 2021 are:

1. Einar Heldal, MD, PhD, Senior Medical Officer, Norwegian Institute of Public Health;

2. Sven Hinderaker Gudmund, MD, professor at the University of Bergen, Center for International Health, Department of World Public Health and Primary Health Care;

3. Andrey Maryandyshev, MD, Professor of the Northern State Medical University, Head of the Department of Phthisiopulmonology, Chief Phthisiologist of the North-Western Federal District of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The agenda of the meeting

1. The timing and placing of the 1st Training Module - from 12 to 26 June 2021, physically in Arkhanglesk.

2. The timing and placing of the 2nd Module - from 2 to 6 August 2021, digitally.

3. The dates of the 3rd Module are being specified.

The course organizers have started preparing for the 1st Module.
